Shillong, May 7: Meghalaya Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong, on Thursday, said that the full budget of the state for the year 2020-21 would be presented this month.
He also revealed that the state excise department has collected Rs 6 crore from May 4 till date.
It may be noted that the State Government allowed the re-opening of liquor shops from May 4th to May 9 between 9am to 4pm. Liquor Shops had been closed following the imposition of the national lockdown.
The Deputy Chief Minister also said that the government would present the full budget of the state again this month for the year 2020-2021.
During the budget session of the state assembly held in March, only the vote-on-account was passed so that the Meghalaya government can defray certain charges for three months from April 1 to June 30.
Meanwhile, regarding the revenue of the state, the Deputy CM revealed that the government has received some amount from the Centre in March as share of taxes.
“We thank the Central government for releasing the state’s entitlement in March,” Tynsong said.
Further, he also reiterated that the state received around Rs 7 crore, 95 lakhs through the Meghalaya Chief Minister’s Relief Fund as contributions from citizens, private organisations and more.
However, in response to questions on revenue from the increase in price of petroleum products and excise, the Deputy CM said that no detail information was available so far.
