Meghalaya has 297 active cases, 28 new cases on Wednesday

Shillong, Jul 15: Meghalaya till Wednesday afternoon has 297 COVID-19 active cases. 

A majority of these are in East Khasi Hills with 261 cases (BSF personnel with 198 cases, the armed forces 14 and 49 are civilians). 

In Ri-Bhoi district, there are 22 active cases, East Jaintia Hills 2, West Garo Hills 8, South Garo Hills 2, East Garo Hills 1 and North Garo Hills 1.

One BSF personnel, from Tura, West Garo Hills, has recovered from the virus bringing the total number of recoveries to 47.

Health and Family Welfare Minister, A. L. Hek informed that on Wednesday, 28 new cases were reported (19 BSF and Armed Forces 9).

Hek also said that Samples sent for testing till Wednesday afternoon was 25263 out of which  24597 samples yielded negative results, the report of 320 results are awaited. 

Residents of the state who entered Meghalaya till Wednesday afternoon are 21977.
