Meghalaya has 654 COVID-19 active cases

SHILLONG, Dec 5: The State on Saturday recorded 97 new cases and 73 recovered from the virus, taking the number of active cases to 654 and the recovered cases stands at 11, 392.

Director of Health Services (MI), Dr. Aman War informed that of the 97 new cases, East Khasi Hills recorded 82 (armed/paramilitary forces – nine and others 73), West Garo Hills – nine, West Jaintia Hills – five and Ri-Bhoi – one.

Of the 73 new recovered cases East Khasi Hills registered 51 (armed/paramilitary forces – one and others 50), West Garo Hills 11, Ri-Bhoi district – seven, East Garo Hills – two, South West Garo Hills – one and West Jaintia Hills – one.

Dr. War also informed that till date a total of 2, 52, 594 persons tested till date out of which 2, 40, 430 persons tested negative. The Director of Health Services also informed that a total of 67, 762 persons entered the state till date.

The state has recorded 118 deaths due to the virus out of which, 97 were registered in East Khasi Hills and West Garo Hills recorded the second most deaths with 13 cases.

East Jaintia Hills and South West Khasi Hills districts have not recorded any fatalities so far.
