Meghalaya police cautions citizens against old video message

SHILLONG, Aug 18: The Meghalaya Police on Sunday cautioned citizens against an old SOS video message claiming that 2000 Sikh families are stuck in a Gurudwara, which has resurfaced again.

“Please refrain from sharing/posting the video. It’s nothing but FAKE!” the twitter handle of the Meghalaya Police stated.

In a press statement issued to the media, the Meghalaya Police informed that on August 15, at around 09:30am, the twitter account of Meghalaya Police was tagged by a twitterati whereby a video was shared along with a tweet informing that it was an SOS Message through social media and that 2000 Sikh families were stuck in a Gurudwara.

“On receiving the information, Police team forthwith verified the information and ascertained that there was no such incident happening in the state,” the statement from the Meghalaya Police stated.

The police also informed that the tweet and the video was also probe, and it was established that it was an old video which had resurfaced again this year.

“Furthermore, there are no such commotions which are being reported from any part of the state, and that the tweet which was shared through social media is nothing but pseudo,” the Meghalaya Police said.
