Meghalaya police rescues six persons trapped in river

SHILLONG, Aug 15: Meghalaya police on Saturday rescued six persons who were trapped in a river.

According to the police, after receiving information from PCR regarding six person from Tharia village, who went to an island in Wahrew river, East Khasi Hills, for fishing, were reportedly trapped in the middle of the river.

“Special Rescue Team reached on time and rescued all the six persons,” police said.

According to Meghalaya police in the pandemic and the monsoon it has been seen that a number of people have been washed away by the river when they have gone swimming or fishing.

“It is important that everyone should be careful while going close to any river, precautions must be taken, and most importantly children must be accompanied by adults,” the police added.
