Shillong, Jul 22: Meghalaya on Thursday witnessed a surge in Covid-19 fatalities recording 14 more such cases.
According to health authorities, East Khasi Hills district recorded 11 deaths and South West Khasi Hills, West Jaintia Hills and West Khasi Hills districts recorded one case each.
Till date, of the total fatalities in the state East Khasi Hills district has recorded 714 Covid-19 deaths.
The state also recorded 513 new cases and 307 recovered from the virus.
With the latest figures, the state has so far recorded 988 deaths, there are 4413 active cases and 53945 have so far recovered from the disease.
Of the 513 new cases – East Khasi Hills district recorded 184, West Garo Hills district 105, Ri-Bhoi district 70, West Jaintia Hills district 35, South West Khasi Hills district 28, West Khasi Hills district 27, North Garo Hills district 25, South West Garo Hills district 15, East Garo Hills district 12 and East Jaintia Hills and South Garo Hills districts recorded six cases each.
Of the 4413 active cases, East Khasi Hills district has 1361, West Garo Hills district 1087, Ri-Bhoi district 598, West Jaintia Hills district 353, South West Khasi Hills district 246, West Khasi Hills district 194, North Garo Hills district 163, East Garo Hills district 133, South Garo Hills and South West Garo Hills districts 105 and East Jaintia Hills district 68.
