Meghalaya records 19 new cases, 16 are BSF personnel

Shillong, Jul 20: Meghalaya recorded another 19 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, the Health department informed. 

Director of Health Services (MI), Dr. Aman Warr informed that out of the 19 cases, 16 of the new cases are from the Border Security Force (BSF) and three are civilians. 

Of the three civilians, one is from Khanapara, one is a high risk contact of the Assam Regimental Centre personnel and another is a high risk contact of the wedding returnee from Bihar staying at Keating Road. 

West Garo Hills recorded 2 casesand South West Garo Hills 1 case on Monday. 

The district wise break up, of the cases are, East Khasi Hills 356 (BSF – 278, Armed Forces – 14 and civilians-64), Ri-Bhoi 36, West Garo Hills 13, East Jaintia Hills – 2, South West Garo Hills – 2, South Garo Hills – 2, East Garo Hills – 1 and North Garo Hills – 1.

Also three more patients recovered from the virus bringing the total number of such cases to 52.

Dr. Warr also informed that the total number of active cases in the state has gone up to 413.

The number of samples sent for testing till date is 28455, the number of samples tested negative are 27466 and the number of report awaited is 520.

So far a total of 22843 stranded residents of Meghalaya have come back to the State.
