Meghalaya records 27 new cases on Tuesday

SHILLONG, Aug 11: Meghalaya recorded 27 new cases in the last 24 hours, health authorities informed. 

Director of Health Services (MI), Dr. Aman Warr informed that of the 27 new cases, Ri-Bhoi recorded eight all civilians, West Jaintia Hills one, West Garo Hills seven all Border Security Force  (BSF) personnel, East Khasi Hills eight – two Central Reserve Police Force personnel, one armed force personnel, one BSF personnel and four civilians, one returnee in South West Khasi Hills and two returnees from North Garo Hills. 

The Director of Health Services informed that the total number of active cases in the state now is 626 – East Khasi Hills 425 ( BSF 88, armed forces 69 and 268 civilians), West Khasi Hills five, South West Khasi Hills one, Ri-Bhoi 93, West Jaintia Hills 16, East Jaintia Hills six, West Garo Hills 72, South West Garo Hills and South Garo Hills two and North Garo Hills four. 

The state also recorded 12 recoveries on Tuesday – East Khasi Hills 11 (one armed forces, BSF four and civilians six). The total recovered cases so far in the state are 510.

The number of samples sent for testing are – 41509, the number of samples tested negative are 40058 and results awaited are 309.

A total of 26990 citizens has entered the state so far. 

In Ri-Bhoi district out of the eight new cases six are from the CMJ, Breweries, Byrnihat, one is a forest guard and another is a contact of a forest guard. 

In West Jaintia Hills district a staff nurse of Norman Tunnel, Hospital, Jowai tested positive, while in East Khasi Hills the four civilians who tested positive are a tourist taxi driver, one staff nurse at North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences, one AYUSH doctor who was on COVID duty at Civil Hospital Shillong and one contact at NEIGRIHMS.
