Meghalaya records 270 fresh COVID-19 cases, one death

Shillong, Oct 6: Meghalaya on Tuesday recorded 270 fresh COVID-19 cases, taking the total active tally to 2371.

Director of Health Services (MI) Dr. Aman Warr informed that an 87-year-man identified as Thakur Singh Rai, Resident Umsning, Ri-Bhoi District passed away at around 5 am today.

The deceased was diagnosed with respiratory failure with acute respiratory distress syndrome and COVID Pneumonia with comorbities type 2 diabetes.

This takes the total death tally to 60.

Meanwhile of the 270 cases recorded today, 195 were from East Khasi Hills, 26 from West Garo Hills, 19 from Ri-Bhoi, 10 from West Jaintia Hills, 7 from South West Garo Hills, 6 from East Jaintia Hills, 3 from North Garo Hills, two from East Garo Hills, one each from South West Khasi Hills and West Khasi Hills.

In total, East Khasi Hills now has 1690 active coronavirus cases, West Khasi Hills has 11, South West Khasi Hills has 17, Ri-Bhoi has 288, West Jaintia Hills has 40, East Jaintia Hills has 44, west Garo Hills has 193, South West Garo Hills has 41, South Garo Hills has 10, East Garo Hills has 15, and North Garo Hills has 22.

The DHS added that 115 persons recovered today, taking the total recovered tally to 4606.
