Meghalaya records 30 recoveries and 14 new COVID-19 positive cases

SHILLONG, Aug 13: The State on Thursday recorded 30 recoveries of COVID-19 patients and 14 new cases.

 State Health and Family Welfare Minister, A. L. Hek informed that the total recoveries till date has gone up to 547.

Hek also said that of the 14 new cases detected on Thursday, 11 are from East Khasi Hills district of which eight are civilians and three from the armed forces. 

He also said that North Garo Hills recorded one case and West Garo Hills two, all civilians. 

The Health and Family Welfare Minister informed that of the eight civilians cases detected in East Khasi Hills – one is a returnee from Gujarat who came back two months ago, two are SARI cases, two are contacts of positive persons, one is a returnee, one is a staff nurse at North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS) and one is a contact of a positive person from Assam. 

Hek also said that the one positive case detected from North Garo Hills is of a person who had returned from Pynthorbah locality in Shillong, while the two cases in West Garo Hills is of a returnee from Assam and another is a shopkeeper. 

The total active cases in the state now is 640.

East Khasi Hills 426 Border Security Force (BSF) 86, 278 civilians and armed forces 72, West Khasi Hills three, South West Khasi Hills one, Ri Bhoi – 83, West Jaintia Hills – 16, East Jaintia Hills – six, West Garo Hills – 84, South West Garo Hills three, South Garo Hills two and North Garo Hills six. 

The samples sent for testing till Thursday afternoon are 42706 out of which 41097 samples tested negative and the report of 416 samples are awaited. 
Till Thursday afternoon a total of 27522 citizens has entered Meghalaya.
