Shillong, Sept 11: Meghalaya on Friday recorded four more COVID-19 deaths and 151 new cases taking the total number of deaths to 24 and active cases to 1534.
Director of Health Services (MI), Dr. Aman War informed that Sambha Shylla 21 of West Jaintia Hills was admitted at North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS) on the morning of September 10 with meningitis.
Initially he was admitted to Nazareth Hospital on August 27 and on September 5 he was shifted to Super Care Hospital.
From there he was referred by Super Care to NEIGRIHMS.
“He passed away at 10:05 pm on September 10 because of type 1 respiratory failure with COVID pnuemonia sepsis,” Dr. War said.
Khim Singh 46, of ARASU Happy Valley was admitted in NEIGRIHMS on August 22.
He had cough, fever, with respiratory distress and died on September 10 at around 10 pm.
The Director of Health Services said that the cause of death was Type I Respiratory Failure with septic shock and COVID-19 pneumonia.
The third death that occurred on September 10 was that of one Ram Mela Durga Prasad Rao 45 years male from Andhra Pradesh.
He was admitted in Civil Hospital Shillong on September 4 with complaint of breathlessness. He had co – morbidities like diabetes and hypertension.
Dr. War said that he passed away on September 10 at around 10:40 pm of COVID – 19 pneumonia.
Meanwhile, on Friday morning one Saraswati Kuri female 45 of Barapathar died of COVID-19.
She was admitted on September 4 at Nazareth Hospital with complains of breathing difficulty, cough, fever.
She passed away at 4:30 am on September 11.
She died due to COVID – 19 complications, pnuemonia and hypertension.
Meanwhile, of the 151 new cases, East Khasi Hills 98 (armed and paramilitary forces 41, others 57), East Jaintia Hills 27, West Garo Hills 17 (armed and paramilitary forces seven, others 10), North Garo Hills and South West Garo Hills three each, West Khasi Hills two and West Jaintia Hills one. The total number of active cases now are 1,534.
East Khasi Hills district 961 (armed and paramilitary forces – 185, others 776), West Garo Hills 204 (armed and paramilitary forces 84, others120), East Jaintia Hills 139, Ri Bhoi 125 (armed and paramilitary forces 39 and others 86), West Khasi Hills – 34, South Garo Hills – 20, East Garo Hills – 16, West Jaintia Hills – 13, North Garo Hills – 12, South West Garo Hills nine and South West Khasi Hills one.
The state also recorded 47 new recovered cases on Friday, East Khasi Hills – 30 – (armed and paramilitary forces eight and others 22), West Garo Hills seven, East Garo Hills six, Ri-Bhoi three and South West Garo Hills one. The total recovered cases in the state has now gone up to 1,889.
The number of samples sent for testing till date are 109518 of which 1,04,937 samples were negative and the results of 1134 are awaited. The number of people who have entered the State till Friday afternoon are 35237.
