Meghalaya records 40 new COVID-19 cases

Shillong, Feb 7: The state on Sunday recorded 40 new COVID-19 cases and five recovered, health authorities informed.

Director of Health Services (MI), Dr. Aman War informed that with the latest cases the number of active ones have increased to 137 and the total number of recoveries is 13601.

Dr. War informed that of the 40 new cases, 26 were recorded in East Khasi Hills, 11 in West Jaintia Hills and three in Ri-Bhoi.

Of the five recovered cases, four were from East Khasi Hills and one from Ri-Bhoi.

East Khasi Hills is the most affected district with 92 active cases.

The number of persons who have tested for COVID-19 is 3,45,293, of which 3,31,408 samples tested negative.

The number of entrants into the state after restrictions on travelling were eased is 89,754.

Dr. War informed that so far a total of 6859 health care workers have been vaccinated in the state.
