SHILLONG, Aug 25: Meghalaya on Tuesday recorded 42 new COVID-19 cases, with East Khasi Hills accounting for 31 of these.
With these new cases, the total active cases has gone upto 1178.
Director of Health Services (MI), Dr. Aman Warr said that West Garo Hills recorded – six cases, Ri-Bhoi recorded three cases, North Garo Hills – one, West Jaintia Hills – one.
Dr. Warr informed that East Khasi Hills has the most number of case – 797 (512 others and 285 armed forces/paramilitary forces), West Garo Hills : 197 (armed forces/paramilitary forces 123 others 74), Ri Bhoi – 94 (others 70, armed forces/paramilitary forces 24), West Khasi Hills – 43, North Garo Hills – 13, South Garo Hills – 12 (armed forces/paramilitary forces 10, others – two), East Jaintia Hills – 12, South West Garo Hills – four, West Jaintia Hills – three, East Garo Hills – three.
Of the 31 new cases in East Khasi Hills new cases, 21 are others.
Giving a break up of the 31 cases, Dr. Warr informed that, 16 are high risk cases, one tested positive after influenza like illness, three tested positive during random testing (two at NEIGRIHMS and one at Woodland Hospital) and one is a returnee, Ri – Bhoi three (influenza like illnesses – 1, returnee – 1 and one who had gone for migration procedure), North Garo Hills – one (high risk contact), West Jaintia Hills one (health worker) and West Garo Hills – six (others – five, armed forces/paramilitary forces – one).
Meghalaya recorded 43 recoveries on Tuesday, West Garo Hills 32 (armed forces/paramilitary forces – 25, others-seven), Ri-Bhoi – seven (armed forces/paramilitary forces four, others – three), East Khasi Hills – three all others and South West Khasi Hills – one.
So far the state has recorded a total of 832 recoveries.
Meanwhile, samples sent for testing till Tuesday are 76762, samples which tested negative are 74293 and results awaited are approximately 451.
Moreover, a total of 30755 persons have entered the state till Tuesday afternoon.
