Meghalaya records 49 new COVID-19 cases, 42 recoveries

SHILLONG, Aug 26: Meghalaya on Wednesday recorded 49 new COVID-19 cases and 42 recoveries, health authorities informed.

Director of Health Services (MI), Dr. Aman Warr informed that of these East Khasi Hills with 32 have the most cases – armed and paramilitary forces – two and others – 30, East Garo Hills – nine, West Garo Hills – seven (armed and paramilitary forces – six and others – one and Ri-Bhoi – one.

With the new cases, the total active cases are now 1168, with East Khasi Hills – 822 (armed and paramilitary forces – 287 and others – 535), West Garo Hills – 172 (armed and paramilitary forces – 102 and others – 70), Ri-Bhoi – 78 (armed and paramilitary forces – seven and others – 71), West Khasi Hills – 43, North Garo Hills – 13, East Garo Hills – 12, South Garo Hills – 12 (armed and paramilitary forces 10 and others – two), East Jaintia Hills – 12, West Jaintia Hills – three and South West Garo Hills – one.

The total recovered cases – 874
The recovered cases on Wednesday are 42, West Garo Hills – 32 (armed and paramilitary forces – 27, others – five), East Khasi Hills – seven all others and South West Garo Hills – three.

The samples sent for testing till date are 79, 126, samples which tested negative are 76, 654 and the results 431 are awaited.

Also a total number of 31, 084 persons have entered the state.
