Meghalaya records 80 deaths, 1574 active cases and 7228 total recoveries

SHILLONG, Oct 24: Meghalaya on Saturday recorded more recoveries than new COVID-19 cases even as another death was reported, the health authorities informed.

As per the health authorities report, Meghalaya recorded 81 new cases, 137 new recovered cases and one died of the virus.

The deceased has been identified as Limatoshi Ao 59 year-old male of Nongrimbah Laitumkhrah.

He was declared brought dead at around 11 pm on October 23 at Bethany Hospital and tested positive for COVID-19.

Director of Health Services (MI), Dr. Aman War informed that the cause of death is unknown even as he said that he had co-morbidities like Type 2 Diabetes and Hypertension.

With this the number of active cases is now 1574, the total recovered cases are 7228 and the total number of deaths stands at 80.

The Director of Health Services informed that of 81 new cases recorded today, 42 are from East Khasi Hills, 13 from West Garo Hills, West Jaintia Hills 13, seven from West Khasi Hills, two from East Garo Hills, two from Ri-Bhoi one from East Jaintia Hills and one from North Garo Hills.

Dr. War also informed that of the 137 new recovered cases, East Khasi Hills recorded 95 were recorded in East Khasi Hills, 25 in West Garo Hills, seven in West Jaintia Hills, three in North Garo Hills, two in South West Garo Hills, two in West Khasi Hills, one in East Garo Hills, one in East Jaintia Hills and one in Ri-Bhoi.
