Meghalaya records 93 new COVID-19 cases, total active stands at 1035

SHILLONG, Aug 22: Meghalaya on Saturday recorded 93 new COVID-19 cases taking the overall tally of active cases to 1035, health authorities informed.

Director of Health Services (MI), Dr. Aman Warr informed that of these, East Khasi Hills recorded the most with 66 cases, armed and para military forces – 21, others 45, West Garo Hills – nine -armed and para military forces – four and others – five, West Khasi Hills 10, Ri Bhoi two, North Garo Hills two, East Jaintia Hills four.

The break up of the total active cases are – East Khasi Hills, 662 (419 others armed forces and paramilitary 243), West Khasi Hills, 28, Ri Bhoi – 93, West Jaintia Hills – three, East Jaintia Hills – 12, West Garo Hills – 215, South West Garo Hills – four, South Garo Hills – two, East Garo Hills – three, North Garo Hills – 12 and South West Khasi Hills – one.

Meghalaya also recorded 20 new recoveries, West Garo Hills 15 (armed forces, para military forces – 12, others – three), Ri-Bhoi – one, East Jaintia Hills – one and East Khasi Hills – three (others – two and armed forces and para military forces – one).

The samples sent for testing till Saturday afternoon are 72409, the samples which tested negative are 70019 and reports of 579 samples are awaited.

Dr. Warr also informed that till date a total of 23221 citizens were tested through random sampling out of which 397 tested positive.

The total number of entrants into the State till Saturday afternoon are 30005.
