Meghalaya records another COVID-19 death, tally rises to 61

SHILLONG, Oct 9: Meghalaya on Friday recorded one new COVID-19 death, 127 new cases and 71 recoveries.

With this the total number of persons who succumbed to the virus is now at 61, the total active cases are 2424 and 4903 have recovered from the virus.

Director of Health Services (MI), Dr. Aman War informed that the deceased a female, Phlabia Sun 56 years was admitted in Civil Hospital, Shillong on August 22 and she tested positive for COVID on September 25.

“She expired on October 8 at 8:30 pm.
Her cause of death was acute respiratory distress syndrome with septic shock with COVID – 19 and cancer,” Dr. War said.

The Director of Health Services also informed that of the 127 new COVID-19 positive cases detected across the state, 95 are from East Khasi Hills district, 13 from West Garo Hills district, eight from Ri-Bhoi district, five from South Garo Hills district, four from North Garo Hills district and two from East Jaintia Hills district.

The recovered cases Of the new recoveries recorded, 33 are from East Khasi Hills, 29 from West Garo Hills, five from Ri-Bhoi and two each from East Garo Hills and South West Garo Hills district.

The number of samples sent till date are – 169449 out of which 162061 results tested negative.

The number of persons tested positive till date are 7388. The number of persons who entered the State till date are 46, 760.
