Meghalaya records another COVID death, recoveries outnumber new cases

SHILLONG, Oct 31: Another person succumbed to COVID-19 in Meghalaya taking the total number of dead to 88, while 220 recovered from the virus and another 70 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours.

The number of active cases in Meghalaya has come down to 1019, while the recovered cases stand at 8345.

Director of Health Services (MI), Dr. Aman War informed that the deceased, Heavenstone Nongrum 83 years, of Riatsamthiah expired at Nazareth Hospital, on October 30. Dr. War was suffering from co-morbodities.

Dr. War informed that of the 70 new cases, 22 (armed and paramilitary forces three, others 19), were reported in East Khasi Hills, 17 in Ri-Bhoi, 16 in West Garo Hills, five in East Garo Hills, four in North Garo Hills and West Jaintia Hills and one in South Garo Hills and South West Khasi Hills.

Of the 220 new recovered cases, 135 (armed and paramilitary forces one, others 134) were recorded in East Khasi Hills, 64 West Garo Hills, eight Ri-Bhoi, five West Jaintia Hills, two in East Garo Hills, East Jaintia Hills and North Garo Hills, one each in South West Garo Hills and South West Khasi Hills.

The Director of Health Services also informed that till date a total of 2, 02, 056 samples were tested out of which 1, 92, 604 tested negative.

Also a total of 53, 567 persons entered Meghalaya till date.
