Meghalaya records another death due to COVID, toll rises to 82

SHILLONG, Oct 27: Meghalaya on Tuesday again recorded more recoveries than new COVID-19 cases, the health authorities informed, even as the state also recorded another death due to the virus taking the tally to 82.

Director of Health Services (MI), Dr. Aman War informed that the deceased has been identified as Phul Dkhar (60), of Umpling Dongshaneng, Shillong.

Dr, War informed that she was admitted in Shillong Civil Hospital on October 25at 3:15 PM and tested COVID positive.

She expired on the same day at 8:25 PM.

Her cause of death was cardiac arrest with acute pulmonary oedema with severe anaemia with hypertension.

As per the health authorities report, Meghalaya recorded 70 new cases and 172 recovered of the virus.

With this there has been a substantial dip in the number of active cases with 1411 and the number of total recovered cases stands at 7643.

Dr.  War informed that of the 70 new cases 41 (armed and paramilitary forces one, others 40) were recorded in East Khasi Hills, 14 (armed and paramilitary seven, others seven) were recorded in West Garo Hills and five each were reported from in East Jaintia Hills, South Garo Hills and West Jaintia Hills.

Dr. War also informed that of the new recovered cases 100 were recorded in East Khasi Hills (armed and paramilitary forces one, others 99), 41 Ri-Bhoi, 16 West Garo Hills, three North Garo Hills and South Garo Hills, two in West Jaintia Hills and one in West Khasi Hills.

Till date, 9136 persons have tested positive for the virus out of which 82 have died of the virus, 7643 have recovered and 1411 are active.
