Meghalaya records highest single day COVID-19 cases

SHILLONG, Jul 10: The State on Friday recorded the highest COVID-19 cases with 39 in a single day.

State Health and Family Welfare Minister, A. L. Hek informed that the total active case in the state so far is 139, samples sent for testing are 22944, reports yielded negative results are 22520, results awaited are 253 and 45 cases have recovered.

Hek also informed that the total number of stranded citizens who returned back to the State are 21184.

He said that out of the all the 29 new cases detected on Friday are BSF personnel.

The Health and Family Welfare Minister said out of them, 26 are from the BSF Frontier Headquarter in Umpling and three came to Tura from Assam.

Giving district wise breakup of active cases, Hek informed that East Khasi Hills has the maximum with 102 out of which 91are BSF personnel, two are from the Air Force, in Ri-Bhoi there are 15 active cases, East Jaintia Hills 1 and West Garo Hills 6 cases.
