SHILLONG, Sep 24: Meghalaya on Thursday recorded the highest number of COVID-19 recoveries in a single day bringing the number of active cases below 2000.
It may be mentioned that on Wednesday, the number of active cases was 2060.
However, with Thursday recording 199 new recoveries, the number of total recovered cases now has crossed the 3000 mark and stands at 3058.
Out of the 199 new recovered cases – East Khasi Hills had 176 – armed/paramilitary forces 41, others 135, West Garo Hills eight – armed/paramilitary forces two, others six, West Khasi Hills six, Ri-Bhoi five – armed/paramilitary forces one, others four, West Jaintia Hills two and South West Khasi Hills two.
Meghalaya on Thursday recorded 124 new COVID-19 cases taking the number of active cases to 1977.
Of the fresh cases detected on Thursday, 100, including 92 civilians and eight Armed Forces and Paramilitary Forces, were detected in East Khasi Hills.
Seven more new cases were detected in Ri-Bhoi district, five cases, including four civilians and one Armed Forces/Paramilitary Forces in West Garo Hills district, seven in North Garo Hills district, and two in West Khasi Hills district, besides one each in South West Khasi Hills, South West Garo Hills and East Garo Hills districts.
Till date, 1,38,942 samples have been sent for testing out of which 1,33,864 were negative. So far 40,199 people have returned to the state from outside Meghalaya.
