SHILLONG, Jul 6: Meghalaya recorded eight more COVID-19 cases on Monday taking the total active ones to 36.
Health and Family Welfare Minister, A. L. Hek informed that of these six are from East Khasi Hills (five BSF troopers) and one person who attended the wedding at Greenwood Resort, Guwahati.
The Health and Family Welfare Minister informed that there were 41 people who had attended the wedding at Greenwood Resort, Guwahati.
Hek said that out of the 41 the samples of 38 have been tested and all results were negative.
Hek also informed that one tested positive for the virus in Tura, West Garo Hills and another at Ri-Bhoi.
The patient in Tura is a woman who had returned to Tura from Guwahati in Assam, tested positive for the viral infection on her arrival.
The woman has been admitted at the isolation ward of Corona Care Centre in Tura.
The break up of active cases district wise are – East Khasi Hills – 18 (17 BSF and the one attendee of wedding at Greenwood Resort, 12 in Ri-Bhoi, (seven male five female), South West Garo Hills two males, East Jaintia one male and West Garo Hills three cases (two males and one female).
Dr. Warr informed that since the cases in the BSF is on the surge, the government has urged the authorities there to conduct testing of it’s personnel.
He also informed that there are around 135 BSF troopers who are living in rented accommodations outside the camp in Shillong.
Samples sent for testing – 21846, samples tested negative – 21223, total active cases – 36. Recorded cases so far 80. Stranded residents who came back to the State – 20282.
