Meghalaya records lowest new COVID-19 cases in weeks

SHILLONG, Oct 19: Meghalaya on Monday recorded 28 new COVID-19 cases one of the lowest in recent weeks even as 110 persons recovered, health authorities informed.

Director of Health Services (MI), Dr. Aman War informed that 11 were detected in East Khasi Hills, six in West Jaintia Hills, five in Ri-Bhoi and one in East Garo Hills. With this the number of active cases now stands at 2069.

Dr. War said that of the total recovered cases, 72 were detected in East Khasi Hills, 23 in Ri-Bhoi, 13 in West Garo Hills, one in West Jaintia Hills and one in South West Garo Hills. The total recovered case in the state is now 6392.

The number of deaths stands at 75.

The Director of Health Services informed that the samples sent for COVID-19 testing till date is 188256 out of which 179720 samples tested negative.Dr. War also informed that the number of people who entered Meghalaya till date is 50124.

  1. it’s becoz testing has been charged, wheras a number of positive casws are silently roaming the streets of Shillong.
