Meghalaya records one death, 98 fresh cases and 50 recovered cases on Saturday

Shillong, Dec 11: Meghalaya on Saturday, recorded one new COVID-19 death, 98 new infections and 50 persons recovered from the virus.

With the latest figures, the state now has 125 deaths, 641 active cases and 11977 have recovered.

Director of Health Services (MI), Dr. Aman War informed that the one death recorded today was that of an octogenarian.

Dr. War informed that the deceased is Bilenson Ch. Momin (80) of Langkyrding, Nongmensong. He was admitted to Nazareth Hospital on December 10, and died at 3 pm on the same day.

The Director of Health Services informed that the deceased died of type 2 diabetes mellitus with hypertension with COPD with COVID-19 Pneumonia.

East Khasi Hills is the most infected with a total of 394 active cases and 102 deaths.

Dr. War informed that of the 98 new cases 61 were recorded in East Khasi Hills district, 25 in West Jaintia Hills district, six in Ri-Bhoi district, two each in East Garo Hills district and West Garo Hills district, one each in North Garo Hills district and South Garo Hills district.

He also informed that 50 more recoveries from the viral disease were recorded today, which included 23 in East Khasi Hills district, 16 in West Garo Hills district, four each in South West Garo Hills district and West Jaintia Hills and three in Ri-Bhoi district.

Dr. War also informed that till Saturday afternoon, a total of 2, 65, 057 persons have been tested for Covid-19 in the State out of which 2, 52, 314 tested negative.
