Meghalaya records one more Covid death, toll rises to 103

SHILLONG, Nov 18: Meghalaya recorded one more COVID-19 death, 79 new cases and 59 recovered from the virus, the health department informed.

Director of Health Services (MI), Dr. Aman War informed that the death recorded on Wednesday was of a woman from West Garo Hills.

Dr. War said that the deceased – Sabita Saha (55) of Sepoy Colony, Tura.

He said that the deceased tested positive for Covid on November 16 at Holy Cross Hospital but refused admission in the Hospital.

The Director of Health Services informed that she expired on November 17 at about 1 am at home.

“She was diagnosed with Covid 19 Pneumonia and with severe anemia,” Dr. War said.

Of the 79 new cases, 52 were (armed and paramilitary forces 11, others 41) from East Khasi Hills, 13 West Garo Hills, six East Jaintia Hills, three East Garo Hills, two each in North Garo Hills and West Jaintia Hills and one in South West Garo Hills.

Of the recovered cases – 14 were recorded in East Khasi Hills and West Garo Hills, 11 in West Jaintia Hills, 10 in Ri-Bhoi, five in East Jaintia Hills, four in North Garo Hills and one in East Garo Hills.

Dr. War informed that till date a total of 2, 24, 381 persons were tested for Covid out of which 2, 13, 511 tested negative.

The Director of Health Services also informed that a total of 59, 979 persons have entered the State till date.

Dr. War also informed that till date a total of 10870 cases have been recorded in the State out of which, 10014 have recovered, 753 cases are active and 103 deaths were recorded.
