Shillong, Dec 13: Meghalaya on Sunday recorded three COVID-19 deaths taking the number of fatalities to 128, health authorities informed.
Director of Health Services (MI), Dr. Aman War informed that all the three deaths were recorded in East Khasi Hills district.
The first person who died was Nabir Limbu (74), who tested positive for COVID-19 on December 2 and was under home isolation. He was admitted to North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences on December 11 and expired the same day at 5:25 pm.
As per the diagnosis he died of type 2 diabetes mellitus with end stage renal disease with COVID-19 pneumonia with hypertension on maintenance dialysis.
The second death recorded of Trevor O Lamare (38) of Iawmusiang, Jowai, West Jaintia Hills. He was admitted to Nazareth Hospital on December 3 and expired on December 12 at 8:30 am.
He was diagnosed with type 2 respiratory failure with COVID-19 Pneumonia with Severe ALD Syndrome.
The third death was that of Reading Sohlang, (88) of Nongpoh, Ri Bhoi. He was admitted to Nazareth Hospital on November 28 and expired on December 12 at 3:10 AM. Dr. War informed that he was diagnosed with severe sepsis with COVID-19 Pneumonia with Hypertension.
The Director of Health Services also informed that the state on Sunday recorded 123 new cases and 31 persons recovered from the virus.
With this the number of active cases has risen to 730 and the number of recoveries stands at 12008. East Khasi Hills remains one of the most affected districts with 446 active cases.
The district wise breakup of the new cases are – East Khasi Hills 76 (armed/paramilitary force – one and others – 75), West Jaintia Hills 42, West Garo Hills – two (armed/paramilitary forces – one and others – one, South Garo Hills – one, South West Garo Hills – one and West Khasi Hills – one.
Of the new recovered cases – East Khasi Hills recorded 19 (armed/paramilitary forces – seven and others – 12), East Garo Hills – three, West Garo Hills – three, South West Khasi Hills – two, North Garo Hills – one, Ri-Bhoi – one, South West Garo Hills – one and West Jaintia Hills – one.
