Shillong, Dec 17: Meghalaya on Thursday recorded, 69 fresh COVID-19 cases and 70 recovered from the virus, health authorities informed.
With this the number of active cases is now at 686 and the total recoveries stands at 12322.
Director of Health Services (MI), Dr. Aman War informed that of the new cases registered – 61 are from East Khasi Hills (armed/paramilitary forces – 12 and others 49), two cases each were recorded from East Garo Hills, Ri-Bhoi and South West Garo Hills and one each in West Garo Hills and West Khasi Hills.
Of the 70 new recovered cases – East Khasi Hills recorded 55 (armed/paramilitary forces – three and others – 52), West Garo Hills – eight (Armed/paramilitary forces – two and others – six), East Garo Hills – three, West Jaintia Hills – two and one each in East Jaintia Hills and West Khasi Hills.
East Khasi Hills district is the most affected with 435 active cases.
The number of samples tested for COVID-19 till date is 2, 74, 075 out of which 2, 60, 934 yielded negative results.
The number of entrants from outside the state till Thursday afternoon is 73, 170.
