SHILLONG, Oct 5: Meghalaya on Monday recorded 111 new cases and 98 recoveries and one death, health authorities informed.
With this the total number of active cases has gone up to 2217, while the total recovered cases has reached 4491 and 59 deaths.
Director of Health Services (MI) Dr. Aman War informed that of the new cases,
East Khasi Hills recorded 72, Ri-Bhoi 19, East Jaintia Hills 10, West Garo Hills six, West Jaintia Hills two, South West Khasi Hills and South West Garo Hills one each. Dr. War also informed that 37 armed/paramilitary forces from East Khasi Hills have migrated to Ri-Bhoi.
The Director of Health Services informed that of the 98 new cases, East Khasi Hills recorded 82 (armed and paramilitary forces four, others 78), Ri-Bhoi seven, East Jaintia Hills five, West Garo Hills three and West Khasi Hills one.
Dr. War informed that the deceased – Manoranjan Deb 55 years of Mawbah locality, Shillong was admitted to North Eastern Indira Ganshi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS) on September 26 where he tested positive. His health deteriorated and he died on October 4 at around 4:38 pm.
The immediate cause of death was Type I respiratory failure with COVID pneumonia. He had diabetes mellitus, hypertension and recurrent CVA (stroke).
Dr. War also informed that as the new guidelines of the ICMR, which the state is following, those patients who are asymptomatic will be released after 10 days, but they will have to quarantine themselves for another seven days at home.
The Director of Health Services said that according to ICMR, after 17 days the virus is not infectious anymore.
