SHILLONG, May 21: Miani Dalbot Shira, Congress candidate for the Ampati by-poll and daughter of former Meghalaya chief minister, Dr Mukul Sangma on Monday said that her father’s relationship with the people of the constituency, which he has nursed since 1993, is beyond the power of money.
“My father has built the relationship with the people of Ampati which is beyond the power of money so if the opposition is thinking they will buy off the people of Ampati they should know they are fighting a losing battle,” Miani said.
Speaking to the media during her campaign, she also took the opportunity to ask those MLAs who are camping and criticising her father day in and out in Ampati for the works he has done.
“ I say charity begins at home so why don’t they first develop their own constituency first like even one fourth of what Ampati have achieved only after that they should have the moral right to come and give lecture to the electorates of Ampati” she added.
Miani also said that Ampati constituency has become an attraction for BJP-NPP combine simply because her father has done so much for the people and the place.
According to her Ampati has the best of roads even as she added that she was sure the BJP and NPP leaders will also have to acknowledge.
Miani also asked what kind of change her opponents are asking people of Ampati to have.
“Do they to change Ampati and send it back to backwardness underdeveloped? Ampati have changed from underdeveloped to developing now because of my father’s mission vision to develop Ampati and to give the best to the people of Ampati” she said.
Meanwhile, Miani also added that under the guidance of Dr Sangma she will be able to lead the people in the right direction spreading love and compassion and mostly being a good human being.
She also added that she has never subscribed to the views of communal politics which divide people in terms of religion, caste even as Miani added that she believed in “live and let live” and “win good over evil”.
