Shillong, Aug 26: Information and Technology Minister, Hamletson Dohling, on Wednesday, inspected the ongoing construction work of Meghalaya Information Technical Society Building at Umsawli.
Speaking to reporters after the inspection, the minister informed that he was happy with the progress of the construction work. He stated that the building will be completed by March 2021 so that it would provide employment to the youth of the state.
Hamletson said that almost 1000 youth will be able to receive employment once the building is completed.
The minister was accompanied by officers from the IT Department, officials from Badri Rai & Co. Construction Limited and more.
Construction of the building began in December 2018. The project was sanctioned at an amount of Rs. 35 crores and the work is being undertaken by Badri Rai & Co. Construction Limited.
Director of the Construction Company Anuj Kansal informed that 70% of construction work has been completed and only finishing touches are left.
He revealed that the COVID-19 pandemic has slowed down work due to lack of skilled labourers. Kansal said that he has written to the District Commissioner and other officials so that they will be allowed to bring skilled workers from outside the state.
