SHILLONG, Jun 15: After the Ranikor Block Congress Committee was apparently dissolved on June 12 by supporters of legislator Martin M Danggo, the Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) on Friday revamped the party organisation there.
It may be mentioned that during a public meeting at Ranikor on June 12, the supporters of Danggo dissolved the block Congress committee after Chief Minister, Conrad K Sangma assured that Ranikor will be upgraded into a Civil Sub-Division.
During the said meeting, Danggo has made public announcement at Ranikor in South West Khasi Hills district, that he would leave the Congress and resign as MLA to join the ruling National People’s Party (NPP) on the day of the inauguration of the Ranikor Civil Sub Division by Chief Minister, Conrad K. Sangma.
Conrad and other leaders visited Ranikor on Tuesday.
It was also reported that during the public function, Congress leaders and workers from all 65 primary units resigned en masse and joined the NPP.
Kitborlang Nongrem, president of the South West Khasi Hills District Congress Committee, Ranikor Block Congress Committee President, Jerman Nongsiang and all leaders and workers of 65 primary units of the Ranikor Block Congress Committee resigned and dissolved the Block Congress Committee.
The Congress flag was also lowered down while the NPP flag was unfurled which marked the dissolution of the Ranikor Block Congress Committee.
Meanwhile, on Friday, the MPCC appointed Prosperous K Nongmin as the convener of the Ranikor Block Congress Committee while the members are – Khranglin Lyngkhoi, JC Diengngan, Mabadon Nonglyer, Leenga A Sangma and Haripodo Hajong.
Nongmin has been entrusted with the job to organize all the primary units under Ranikor Block Congress Committee at the earliest and to report to the MPCC to facilitate the early formation of its executive committee.
Moreover, Phrinly Wanniang has been appointed as the ad-hoc president of South West Khasi Hills, Mawkyrwat.
