SHILLONG, Nov 18: The Meghalaya Pradesh Youth Congress (MPYC) on Monday said that the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) government is “the most corrupted and incompetent”.
The MPYC was reacting to reports that the Chief Minister, who visited New Delhi recently met Minister of State (MoS) for Finance, Anurag Thakur.
Asking why did the Chief Minister met the junior finance minister for the fund crunch that the state is facing when he has already met the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, the MPYC said, “Is he unaware of the protocol that he has to go and meet a junior MoS when it could be done with a single phone call or if he could have sent one of his ministers instead?”
The youth Congress said that the only reason one can see is that it looks like he is working when he uploads a photo on social media of him meeting people and gallivanting around the world.
However the MPYC said that the truth is the ground reality is grim and the government is not taking any of these issues seriously and seems to only be intent on feeding misinformation to the people.
“The mandate of the people was for a new Meghalaya. Let’s see what we are seeing in this new Meghalaya of the present government, the major one of which is the financial crisis in the state,” the MPYC said.
According to them due to this, several welfare schemes have been discontinued or are defunct.
The MPYC also pointed out that the salaries for government employees for the coming months are also uncertain.
“Wages of muster-roll workers, ASHA workers, teachers, GHADC employees, etc, have not been paid. Contractors of all departments are not being paid their pending bills,” the youth Congress added.
The MPYC also said that even emergency services have been hit and development projects which have already been sanctioned are not starting and others are stuck without any progress.
They also stated that maintenance of amenities like roads and street lights are also non-existent.
“These are serious issues and will not be solved on social media. We suggest that the Chief Minister take the advice of some economical expert and not his PR manager because you can fool some people sometime but you cannot fool all the people all the time. Is this the resurgent Meghalaya? Is this ache din?” the MPYC said.
