SHILLONG, Nov 26: Meghalaya Chief Minister, Conrad Sangma today said that the state government was waiting for the Governor’s assent on the issue of the Ordinance on the Meghalaya Residents Safety and Security Act (MRSSA).
When asked if the MRSSA would have an adverse impact on tourism in the state, Conrad said that it will not have any negative impact.
The Chief Minister said that tourists register even now.
“But they register when they go to the hotel. All we are saying is register with us (government). That same registration will be applicable in the hotel too. There is no impact at all when the tourist comes into the state and goes into the hotel. When you go to Bombay or Delhi you also have to give ID card and we are also asking for the ID. It is the same registration process but it will done in a centralised way,” Conrad said.
