TURA, Mar 25: Former Chief Minister and Congress candidate from the Tura Lok Sabha seat, Dr Mukul Sangma said that the issue at hand was to ensure the defeat of the current regime and the installation of a new government.
Speaking to media persons, Dr Sangma said that the nation has been subject to uncertainty even as he added that the overall situation across the nation calls for a collective endeavour to work towards sustaining democracy.
“Democracy per se is under threat,” he said.
It may be mentioned that Tura parliamentary seat is witnessing a triangular fight between the Dr Sangma of the Congress, National People’s Party, Agatha K Sangma and BJP’s Rikman G Momin.
When asked to comment on the BJP putting a candidate from the Tura seat, Dr Sangma said, asked the media to find out for themselves.
“Investigate how the NPP was born and who nurtured them,” the Congress candidate from the Tura seat said.
Dr Sangma also sounded confident that he will make it at his third attempt.
“Just remember it was the Congress who groomed and nurtured them,” Dr Sangma said.
