SHILLONG, Jul 22: Opposition leader of the state, Dr Mukul Sangma has said that the first priority of the district administration of South West Garo Hills district is to ensure that peace is restored in Mahendraganj town.
According to Dr Sangma there are two versions doing the rounds of Sunday’s incident.
The leader of opposition said that the authorities should not hide facts or else the people will lose confidence.
He also said that the district is already facing natural calamity after the recent rains has flooded the area causing miseries.
The opposition leader also said that the focus of the district administration from rendering help to those affected by the floods should not be dislocated by Sunday’s incident.
He said that people are already having an agonising time due to the flood.
Dr Sangma also said that he will be touring the flood affected areas on Tuesday and during the visit will take the opportunity to enquire about Sunday night’s incident.
“I will personally find out from the district administration what has happened,” he said.
