Shillong, Aug 7: The Meghalaya Cabinet has approved home delivery of liquor in the state, through the introduction of two new rules.
Speaking to reporters, Cabinet Minister James Sangma said that two new rules, 286 (A) and 316 (A) subsection 1-22 dealing with license for home delivery by wine shops in Meghalaya Excise (Assam Excise rule 1945) has been adapted and amended by the government.
He added that customers can order up to 3 litres of foreign liquor and 4 litres of beer each.
James informed that licensed wine stores in the state can apply for license for home delivery.
He stated that the licensee will have to submit list of delivery personnel, their names, valid ID proof, residential, vehicle numbers and more to the District Commissioners from time to time.
Customers will have to provide their age proof to avail this service, he informed, adding that furnishing fake information will lead to penal action.
