SHILLONG, Feb 6: One accused person has been convicted by a court in an offence under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012.
The city court on February 5 awarded the accused, Tovanath Dahal to years Rigorous Imprisonment for the offence committed under section 6 of the POCSO Act 2012, five years Rigorous Imprisonment for an offence committed under Section 364 IPC with a fine of Rs 1000 and in default of payment of fine the convict shall further undergo sentence of one month of simple imprisonment and also six months simple imprisonment for an offence committed under Section 342 IPC.
The sentence shall run concurrently.
The Order was passed by Noor Ain Khan (MHJS), Special Judge (POCSO), East Khasi Hills, District, Shillong in connection with Lumdiengjri Police Station Case No. 86(09)2013 u/s 342/376 (2) (f) IPC Read with section 3 (a) of the POCSO Act 2012.
Further, the Court of Special Judge (POCSO), East Khasi Hills, District, Shillong has also recommended compensation of Rs Three lakhs to be paid to the victim by the State Government.
