Organisation demands repair of AMPT road

SHILLONG, Jan 8: The Anti-Corruption and Human Development Organisation (ACHDO) a social organisation from the plain belt region of Garo Hills has urged the government to immediately repair the Agia-Medipara-Phulbari-Tura (AMPT) road.

The ACHDO said that the road is the lifeline of the people of plain areas even as they expressed surprised how a road can be left unattended for so long.

“The same road got repaired from Phulbari to Rajabala after a long time but unfortunately from Phulbari to Chibinang it has been abandoned,” the organisation said.

The ACHDO said that sometime back it was circulated in social media that the road from 41 km to 51 km funds has been sanctioned but on the ground nothing has moved.

The organisation also requested temporary movement of overloaded trucks till the road gets constructed from Phulbari-Chibinang.

“At the same time we request for establishment of weighbridge on AMPT, as the exporters seem to take advantage of no weighbridge on this route,” the ACHDO said.
