SHILLONG: While Misses India Glamour Pageant has changed to National Pageant India, the theme, the aim, the vision and the social concerns remain the same.
Eldora Betsy Lyngdoh, National Director of Pageant India, speaking to media persons said that the Pageant India target is to start by equipping and empowering the individual, helping each to express their own creativity and uniqueness and thereby, converging into a Unity in Diversity.
According to the National Director of Pageant India, the Pageant was first started in the year 2017 and it was previously known as the Misses India Glamour Pageant, this year, the name was renamed as National Pageant under NRE Pageant India Private Limited.
“It was born out of a deep concern to foster and promote the fast disappearing human values in our beloved nation. Values such as – Integrity, faithfulness, love, selflessness, confidence and determination, but also to take a stand against discrimination – Discrimination in all of its forms whether racial, religious, language or sexual orientation, to mention just a few,” she said.
Eldora said, this platform, therefore, is created to stand in the gap, to awaken our Nation and bring us back to the reality of the privilege of life that God has given to us, each and every human being on earth.
“We need to accept that in the end, we are all people, all alike, sharing this planet Earth with one another and with other sentient beings, all of whom have an equal role and stake in this planet and its continuing survival and thriving. We live in one of the world’s biggest democracy, yet we should remember that Political democracy in itself is not enough. It cannot stand, unless it is based on social democracy and a democratic way of life that recognises Liberty, Equality and Fraternity as the fundamental principles of life,” she added.
