SHILLONG, Jul 20: The People’s Democratic Front (PDF) on Friday said that it will meet their Members of District Council (MDCs) in the KHADC who are part of the Khasi Hills Democratic Alliance (KHDA).
It may be mentioned that three MDCs of the PDF – James Sylliang, Latiplang Kharkongor and Blanding Warjri are part of the ruling alliance in the council led by National People’s Party’s (NPP) Hispreaching Son Shylla.
It may be pointed out that the KHDA is having the support of 4 National People’s Party (NPP), 5 United Democratic Party (UDP), 4 People’s Democratic Front (PDF), 3 Hill State People Democratic Party (HSPDP), 1 Khun Hynniewtrep National Awakening Movement (KHNAM) and 1 Independent managed to topple Pynshngaiñ N Syiem of the PDF.
The PDF alleged that it was due to the three MDCs, that the party is not able to lead the Executive Committee in the KHADC.
PDF chief Ivanlumlang Marbaniang said, “The PDF has 11 MDCs but three of them are supporting the KHDA led by the NPP. There concerned over the turn of events we convened a meeting.”
Marbaniang added, “We had invited the three to the meeting today but they failed to turn up.”
Marbaniang also informed that the Central Working Committee of the PDF has entrusted the matter to the Disciplinary Committee headed by party MLA from Sohra Gavin M Pariat to deliberate on it.
Pariat said, “After the Central Working Committee (CWC) entrusted the job to me I convened an emergent meeting on the matter and we have decided to summon the three MDCs on July 23. If they fail to turn up on that day we will have to take action which will be recommended to the CWC in our report.”
PDF president, Marbaniang said that the three MDCs claimed that they are still with the party but pointed out that they have an agreement with the KHDA that they will be made Executive Members.
“They have asked for time even as they told us that they have assured their to support the KHDA. We (PDF) are trying to unite and they should understand this,” the PDF president added.
PDF secretary, Auspicious Lyngdoh Mawphlang said that they had never asked the MDCs to extend their support to the KHDA.
