SHILLONG, Apr 15: Konachar polling station which went for re-poll on Monday recorded 93.40 percent for Lok Sabha and 93.12 percent for the by-poll to the Selsella assembly seat.
The re-poll was necessitated as the voters of this polling booth cast their votes in the voting machine meant for the Lok Sabha poll instead of assembly by-election during polling held on April 11.
Konachar polling station has a total of 712 voters.
The by-election to Selsella Assembly constituency was necessitated by the death of sitting Congress legislator Clement Marak on October 8, 2018.
Marak’s widow June Eliana R. Marak is contesting the by-poll on the Congress ticket against the ruling NPP candidate Ferlin C A Sangma, UDP nominee Sayeedullah Nongrum and BJP candidate Adorsho Sangma.
