Shillong, June 23: Health and Family Welfare Minister and BJP MLA A. L. Hek on Tuesday, said that the government is always ready for peace talks with the Hynñiewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC) or any other such organisation.
Hek said that the state government is ready to take up the matter with the Government of India under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
He added that if the HNLC wants a peace talk, he will take the matter up personally with the Home Minister Amit Shah and the Ministry of Home Affairs.
“We want peace in the state of Meghalaya,” he stated.
However, he added that the decision for the talks will depend on the central government. “It will be prerogative to the advice of the central government,” he said.
