SHILLONG, Mar 25: Sanbor Shullai BJP candidate from Shillong Parliamentary seat today filed his nomination along with two other candidates, Romeo Phira Rani (Independent) and Justice Kharbasanti, (CPI).
Speaking to media persons at the Deputy Commissioner’s office after filing his nomination, Shullai said that regional parties cannot be divorced from the BJP.
“Finally they would all want to work with the BJP. They will need the BJP in Delhi to get maximum funds for the State,” he said.
It may be mentioned that although the BJP is part of the MDA coalition it is fighting the polls separately. From the Tura Parliamentary seat the BJP has put up businessman Rikman G Momin as its candidate.
From the Shillong Parliamentary seat, the MDA has put up, United Democratic Party’s, Jemino Mawthoh, as their common candidate while, Agatha K Sangma of the National People’s Party is the alliance’s candidate.
He also exuded confidence that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will come back to power.
According to the BJP nominee from the Shillong Lok Sabha seat people of the country have already reposed faith and confidence on Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“We are confident to win the Shillong seat … it is useless to waste their votes by voting for other parties but they should vote for a party that will form the government in Delhi,” Shullai said.
When asked for his reaction over the continued criticism of the BJP by the partners in the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) coalition despite being together, he said that the regional parties cannot be divorced from the BJP.
The other candidates in the fray from the Shillong seat are sitting MP and Congress nominee Vincent H Pala, Samuel Hashah (Independent) and THS Bonney (KHNAM).
Nomination papers will be taken up for scrutiny on Tuesday.
