Residents of Them Iew Mawlong receives funds from Punjab govt

SHILLONG, Mar 11: During the 2015-16 the residents of Sweeper’s Lane, Them Iew Mawlong received around Rs 11.5 lakh from the Punjab government, the Meghalaya Assembly was on Monday informed.

Replying during the Question Hour, state Urban Affairs Minister, Hamletson Dohling said that there were two amounts sanctioned by the government of Punjab.

“An amount of Rs 1.5 lakh was first sanctioned for ten women beneficiaries at the rate of Rs 15,000 each for their treatment,” Dohling said.

The Urban Affairs Minister also said that another amount of Rs 10 lakh was sanctioned for development of the Guru Nanak School located in the area.

Replying to a supplementary question raised by Sawkmie, the Urban Affairs Minister informed that the Punjab Government had not made any official communication to the State Government adding that the funds were routed through the office of the Deputy Commissioner, East Khasi Hills district.

Replying to another supplementary question raised by Congress legislator from East Shillong, Ampareen Lyngdoh, Dohling informed that the Punjab Government had sanctioned the above funds for the school building on May 18, 2015 adding that the utilisation certificate to show the completion of the construction of the school building was submitted on July 31, 2017.
