Retest of 5 out of 12 returnees tested COVID-19 +ve are negative: Deputy CM


Shillong, May 16: Meghalaya Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong, on Saturday, informed that 12 residents who returned to the state from Tamil Nadu tested positive for COVID-19 when tested through Rapid Diagnostic Test Kits. 

However, he informed that 5 persons out of the 12 tested negative in the retest conducted at NEIGRIHMS and Tura Civil Hospital. 

Tynsong informed that 7 out of the 12 are from East Khasi Hills, 4 from Tura and 1 from Ri Bhoi.

He informed that they were immediately taken to quarantine centres in their respective districts.  

“Their samples were collected and sent for PCR test at NEIGRIHMS and Tura Civil Hospital. The results for all 4 from Tura and one from Ri Bhoi have been tested and confirmed negative,” he added. 

Tynsong revealed that the results for 7 from East Khasi Hills are awaited.

He expressed his gratefulness to all the DCs, DMHOs and Traditional Heads for their hard work in receiving students and friends from Tamil Nadu.
