Social media users warned against hate posts and comments

Tura, Apr 1: The Returning Officer of the Tura Parliamentary seat, Ram Singh today warned the social media users not to posts and comments on postings from anonymous sources.

The order that came out on April 1 morning also warned to take stern action against the users.

In the notice the RO, people have been advised to refrain from posting, commenting or forwarding content with communal overtones to ensure the election could be free and fair and peace and law could be maintained.

The memo also added that action would be taken against those found to be doing so, including FIRs against the admin and post owner as well.

Incidentally a person allegedly made a statement on social media, purportedly from the plain belt asking people to vote for one party owing to the fact that the party would allow the movement of CAB and allow people from Bangladesh entry into India.

The social media statement was widely shared and quickly turned viral resulting in hate comments being posted on social media with some seeking even going to the extent of threatening to thrash the person. The page was taken down quickly but damage had already been done.
