SHILLONG, Feb 12: Meghalaya Assembly Speaker, Metbah Lyngdoh on Wednesday, has urged children who come from under privileged families and given the opportunity to excel in life to give back to society once they become successful.
“You have to be clean hearted and you should love one another. You should also be grateful to God for getting this opportunity,” Lyngdoh said.
The Speaker was speaking at a Swach Bharat Abhiyan programme organised by CHILDLINE Shillong implemented by the Bosco Integrated Development Society, at the Divine Saviour Parish Hall, Nongthymmai.
Lyngdoh said that the children are fortunate enough that there are organisations that are taking care of their education.
He also said that the children are the future of the family, the society and the nation.
The Assembly Speaker also called upon the children to not be burdened by life’s challenges.
“Some of you have your parents, some of your may have only one parent, there are others who have only their relatives. In life they too face challenges while trying to look after you,” Lyngdoh said.
The CHILDLINE has for the past two years, conducted activities on Swach Bharat Abhiyan with children and add value to the national campaign.
