Three held for drug peddling in Ri Bhoi

Nongpoh, March 24: Three alleged drug peddlers on Friday night were apprehended in Nongpoh by some vigilante groups which had been keeping a close watch on their movements.

The drug peddlers have been identified as Sahil Marbaniang, Rajen Rai and Kale Chetri of Nongpoh proper area.

The trio were apprehended during a raid conducted by a team of vigilante from the area led by the Seng Samla Shnong of Nongpoh town.

Sources said that one of those arrested has several cases against him, including an offence under the Narcotic act.

Later, the vigilante team handed over the apprehended drug peddlers to district police for further investigation.

However, police sources informed that during police interrogation, Sahil revealed that he is a drug addict and has been involved in drugs peddling for quite some time.

From their possession, police recovered 3.21 gm of heroin, cash of Rs 1.03 lakh along with 23 Golden tobacco tin containers used for packing heroin, around 65 syringes, four mobiles and three sim card.

In this connection, a case is registered against them vide Nongpoh PS under NDPS Act.
