Shillong,Sept 18: Two criminals were arrested for cattle trafficking with three trucks carrying 97 cows in the Indo-Bangladesh border of Meghalaya on Friday.
Arrested by the Border Security Force (BSF), the two accused were caught when they were on their way to the International border to sell the 55 lakhs worth cattle.
The statement issued by Public Relation Officer of the BSF, U.K. Nayal said that smuggling of cattle/FICN/Contraband items are on the rise during the lockdown at the International border near Bangladesh.
The BSF PRO also informed that they had seized many cattles and smugglers.
Nayal meanwhile said that the BSF will intensify it’s operation and keep a vigil watch over the nefarious activities in the border areas.
The 444 kms Indo-Bangladesh border of Meghalaya are interspersed with raverine,dense forest and hilly terrain which are ideal for cattle smuggling.
