Two new ministers take oath in Meghalaya

Shillong, Oct.1: NPP MLA Dasakhiat Lamare and HSPDP MLA Renikton Lyngdoh Tongkhar and were sworn in as ministers in the MDA government on Thursday. 

Meghalaya Governor Satya Pal Malik administered the oath at his official residence in Shillong. 

Lamare replaced three-time MLA from Raliang constituency, Comingone Ymbon while the Mawkyrwat MLA replaced his party colleague Samlin Malgniang. 

Speaking to reporters after, Dasakhiat Lamare, expressed his gratitude to the Chief Minister and colleague Comingone Ymbon. At 28, Lamare is one of the youngest cabinet ministers in the state. 

He added that although there was no prearrangement to reshuffle the cabinet berth, the decision was undertaken with the understanding of NPP leadership. 

Meanwhile, HSPDP MLA Renikton expressed his gratitude to his party members and UDP for backing his nomination to the Cabinet.
